Now that I’m talking long-term predictions — and given how often I’ve called things right (including some that still blow people’s minds) — here’s one I rarely mention but absolutely nailed.
Back when Triple H (or HHH if you prefer) was on what I think was either his third or fourth title reign, I said outright:
“One day, this guy won’t just be a top star — he’s going to be running things behind the scenes.”
Not just a locker room leader.
Not just a figurehead.
Management.
People laughed. Said I was stretching. Said Vince would never hand over that kind of power.
Fast forward… Triple H becomes COO of WWE, then ends up running creative, and then steps up even more after Vince’s semi-exit.
Did I have a crystal ball?
No.
Did I just read the room and know how to spot a guy positioning himself for the long game?
Absolutely.
It wasn’t about guessing — it was about seeing what was right in front of everyone’s eyes if they paid attention.
What if I’d actually bet on it?
Let’s be honest — this would’ve been one of those crazy “novelty bets” that bookies sometimes offer on request.
Back when I said it, you’d probably be looking at odds in the 50/1 to 100/1 range, maybe even 150/1, because:
- Wrestlers didn’t move into real corporate roles.
- Vince McMahon giving up any power seemed laughable.
- Even “on-screen authority” wasn’t seen as a step toward actual management.
A cheeky £10 at 100/1?
That’d have landed £1,000 in your pocket.
And if you’d stacked it with a few other bold predictions in an accumulator… who knows how high it could’ve gone.
Moral of the story?
Sometimes seeing the bigger picture pays off — and sometimes, you’ve just got to back your gut… even if it’s only for bragging rights.
And while we’re on predictions, let’s not forget — I’ve also called that John Cena’s record-breaking 17th world title win will only happen when he finally turns heel.
Mark my words on that one too.
