It’s not unusual for people to misread what a shop sells, especially online. But every now and again, we get messages that truly boggle the brain.
One such moment came when a visitor reached out via live chat asking about our biltong selection.
We politely replied that we don’t sell biltong — because we don’t.
But that didn’t end it.
Apparently, because our business is called Onyx Dragon, this person believed we should obviously be biltong suppliers. They explained that, in their home country, biltong is often referenced with the name “onyx,” so our refusal to sell it was “highly misleading.”
They were especially disappointed we didn’t stock 2kg of spicy bison biltong.
We explained, again, that Onyx is a semiprecious gemstone, and that our business has nothing to do with dried meat products.
The final message:
“There’s no need to be rude.”
We had merely stated facts — politely — but apparently, not selling bison jerky counts as rudeness now.
